What 358 tune enquiries asked for

We counted the lead form answers from 358 enquiries sent to two NSW tuning workshops through Facebook and Instagram ads over two months. One is a performance workshop, the other a 4x4 and performance shop. Totals only, no names.

Here's what car owners asked for, how ready they were to book, what they drive and what time they got in touch. If you run a tuning workshop, this is who is filling in your form.

What do car owners ask for when they enquire?

A tune. 323 of the 358 asked for a tune or remap, which is nine in ten. At the performance workshop it was 208 of 224. At the 4x4 shop it was 115 of 134. In the latest 30 days alone, 135 of 155 enquiries across the two asked for a tune.

Both workshops do servicing too, and both forms offered it. Only 29 people picked servicing or repairs, and 6 asked about 4x4 accessories or a GVM upgrade.

The ad sets the reason people enquire. If you want more service work from your ads, it needs its own ad that talks about servicing, not a tick box at the bottom of a tune form.

Are tune enquiries ready to book?

Mostly not yet. The performance workshop asks when people want to book in, and all 224 answered.

133 were just getting a price first. That's six in ten. Only 12 wanted the car in that week. Another 79 gave a time within the next two months.

This is the most useful number in the whole set. A price shopper isn't a dud lead. They're comparing workshops, and six in ten aren't ready to book on the first reply. A tuner who sends the price and waits is handing those people to whichever workshop follows up.

What do people who enquire about a tune drive?

The 4x4 shop asks what people drive, and 134 answered.

99 of the 134 drove a ute or 4WD. Ford Ranger and Everest owners led with 23, with Isuzu D-Max and MU-X owners close behind on 20. In the latest 30 days those two were tied at 9 each. Patrol and Navara came next with 14, then HiLux with 13.

If your ad names one of these vehicles, its owner stops scrolling. A generic line like "we tune all makes" gets scrolled past by all of them.

When do tune enquiries come in?

For the 4x4 shop we also have Meta's hour by hour record of its 57 lead form enquiries over the 30 days to 17 October 2026.

29 of the 57 came in before 7am or after 5pm. The single busiest hour was 7pm to 8pm, with 9 enquiries. It's a small sample, but it matches what we see in garage door enquiries: around half arrive when the workshop is shut.

Who enquires about a tune, and where do they see the ad?

Same 57 enquiries. Facebook brought in 49 and Instagram 8. Whatever gets the likes, the people who filled in the form mostly found the ad on Facebook.

By age, 45 to 54 was the biggest group with 17, then 35 to 44 with 12. 43 of the 57 were 35 or older. The owner sending the form is more likely in their forties than their twenties.

What to put in your ads, form and follow-up

    1. 01

Lead with the tune, and give servicing its own ad

Nine in ten enquiries wanted a tune even when servicing was on the form. If you want service work too, make a separate ad for it.

    2. 02

Follow up price shoppers for weeks, not hours

133 of 224 were just getting a price. Send the price fast, then keep in touch over the next few weeks with proof: a dyno sheet, a short clip of a similar car, a review from an owner.

    3. 03

Name the vehicle in the ad

Rangers, Everests, D-Maxes and MU-Xs led the list. One ad per vehicle, made from your own workshop footage, beats one ad for everything.

    4. 04

Ask what they drive on the form

A vehicle question, or a rego lookup, means the enquiry arrives with the car already known, so you can price the tune on the first reply instead of chasing details.

    5. 05

Reply when the workshop is shut

29 of 57 enquiries came in before 7am or after 5pm. An instant text that confirms you got it and says when you'll call keeps them from ringing the next workshop.
